A walk along the Poole Bay seafront during the pandemic lockdown
A photographic chronicle by Andy Ross
I performed this walk in the 11th hour of Misericordias Domini Sunday, 26 April 2020.
AR
The path toward the seafront is leafy
AR
The path opens up as the seafront gets nearer
AR
The first glimpse of the beach, looking eastward
AR
The beach, looking westward
AR
The beach is not too crowded and nicely distanced
AR
The lifeguard station looks rather lonely
AR
From here the crowds look denser
AR
From here, one sees the beach is actually quite empty
AR
Looking toward Bournemouth and Hengistbury Head
AR
The lifeguard station in close-up
AR
Looking eastward, the beach is still empty
AR
The Canford Cliffs beach huts look picturesque
AR
The cliff looks good, but it's unstable
AR
Endless ranks of beach huts do look depressing
AR
Here comes the beach patrol to check up on social distancing
AR
These people look crowded, but actually they're well distanced
AR
Looking eastward, these people don't even look crowded
AR
Looking westward, ditto
AR
Stairs up to a higher rank of beach huts
AR
View over a lonely beach
AR
But usually it's not so lonely
AR
In fact, it's hard to be alone here
AR
The beach huts are delapidated, despite their higher rank
AR
Onward and upward, toward the clifftop
AR
All this vegetation helps to fix the cliff face
AR
The path continues upward
AR
On and on it leads
AR
The view begins to look grander
AR
And here a clifftop garden, looking eastward
AR
The garden, looking westward
AR
And now, looking down on the garden
AR
Along the clifftop
AR
We encounter a kids' playground
AR
A last look at the beach, before we head inward
AR
Looking southward from a car park
AR
Finally, the local library and polling station
